Show Surprise! -- 500 Drop In At Home For Big Birthday Party It was a surprize happy birthday birth-day for Samuel Brooks, 1998 McClelland, Mc-Clelland, Sunday when 500 friends wished him greetings during an open house at his residence, honoring hon-oring him on his 70th birthday. Each year Mr. Brooks makes about 1,3000 birthday greeting telephone calls . . . after collecting collect-ing friends names and birth dates for the past five years. The party was arranged by Frank Nebeker who met Mr. Brooks when they worked in the post office together Mr. Brooks worked 31 years for the postal department and retired in 1955. Mich of his time he spends in work for the LDS Church and in that capacity makes regular visits to the Utah State Prison inmates. He was especially thrilled with the greeting sent to him from many of the inmates in appreciation of the work he has done for them. He has four children and seven grandchildren, one of whom, Steven Brooks Walker, is following follow-ing in his grandfather's footsteps with a birthday book. When Mr. Brooks retired from the postal service he was paid honor by all who knew him or worked with him. |
