Show New Chief Takes S L Police Reins Salt Lake City Commission Tuesday proved appointment of W. Cleon Skousen as chief of Salt Lake City Police Department. Mr. Skousen, one-time FBI agent and recently connected with Brigham Young University, will earn $10,000 annually in the controversial post. Enforcement of the law with "fairness and firmness" was Chief Skousen's pledge to the Commission. Commis-sion. He indicated there would be some changes in the Department, Depart-ment, but "only after careful study." Chief Skousen replaces Chief Odes B. Record who resigned to keep his former post of Inspector with the force. Both officials complimented the men serving under un-der them. "Salt Lake City will have one of the finest police departments de-partments in the country," said Chief Skousen. "It is not a one-man one-man job, but a job for the whole community." |
