Show IMMUNIZE DOG, PREVENT RABIES Be cautious take heed, have your dog or cat immunized and report re-port any unusual actions observed in animals in your area, the Utah board of health warned this week. Within recent week's canine rabies have broken out in two states bordering Utah. To the east five cases of rabies have been reported in Colorado. .Within the last week Idaho has reported six cases of canine rabies in Burley. Five humans have been bitten by known rabid animals and three of these cases are, at present, taking tak-ing the Pasteur treatment. The cause of the outbreaks have not been traced, and, as both states . as well as Utah are not considered to be endemic, it is felt the introduction in-troduction of this disease is possible pos-sible through the transportation of dogs from southern states by migratory workers Preventive programs have been launched in the areas of occurrence and dogs are being vaccinated against rabies as well as being quarantined to restrict their movements. |
