Show Fourth Of July, Twenth-Fourth Rich Heritage We live here in our Sugar House Southeast area as privileged members of a free society. We are proud of it. We are proud of our beliefs in the right to live in freedom and liberty. This month of July points up Ihese precious heritages. July is a strong month. It is a - glorious month. And doubly so for vis. For in it are celerated two great holidays: the Fourth bringing to nur minds the founding of this great nation and the 24th celebrating celebrat-ing its extension into the great Rocky Mountain areas. Both of these great events had their foundation foun-dation in a strong belief in God. The inspiration to be derived from the great lessons of the past arc immensely significant. They are guides to the present and future generation toward similarly worthy standards and attainments. attain-ments. Doesn't it seem somewhat futile to be deeply concerned about our future if vc have little comprehension compre-hension of our past? Everyone remembers playing baseball and how at certain times you had to come back and touch base and tag up before advancing without penalty. So today. Reaffirming Re-affirming our age-old principles is like returning to touch base again. We re-establish contact with proven fundamentals during this month of July. We make ourselves our-selves bettor able to live our lives, educate our young, and pray our prayers, all in freedom and self-respect. self-respect. Certainly our great historic sites, buildings, and objects are compelling ways of realizing the worthy quality of our past attainments. attain-ments. The Sugar House Southeast South-east area is not without its call to tho past and inspiration for the future. During this holiday month while there is time parents should take their youngsters of whatever what-ever age and acquaint them with our worthy landmarks. Not the least of these is Pioneer Village. Here under one roof, in one collection collec-tion which is ever-growing, is a visual aid to whatever glorious story you want your children to hav.e Our youth must have strength of character, dynamic purpose, simple courage to hold fast today. They must be dedicated to the American way of life. Let's all make it a July project to help them grow in fortitude of mind, body, and soul. |
