Show SCHOOL SURVEY FINDINGS ARE PUBLISHED Utah Foundation this week announced an-nounced plans for publication and distribution of 10,000 copies of the complete summary of findings and recommendations of the Utah Public School Survey commission. The publication, a 48-page booklet, book-let, will contain the full text of the summary of recommendations appearing at the end of each major chapter of the School Survey official of-ficial report, plus the chairman's letter of transmittal and the names of commission and fact-finding committee members. Five thousand copies will be mailed to the Utah Foundation membership and the remaining 5,000 will be mailed to interested citizens of Utah who write for a copy of the booklet. The introductory note explains motives for distributing the findings: find-ings: "Because of the importance of of the study of the public schools iried for bv the 1951 Utah leg- islature, Utah Foundation is making mak-ing the conclusions of the Public School Survey commission widely available to the general public. "This booklet contains recommendations recom-mendations and explanatory material ma-terial which accompanies them. They are presented in full and without with-out editorial comment. Utah Foundation is publishing this summary consistent with the purposes of the Foundation, which are to study and to encourage the study of taxation and the relation of state and local government costs to the economy of Utah. "Interested citizens of Utah may obtain a copy of the Survey Commission Com-mission report summary by writing to Utah Foundation, 400 Darling Building, Salt Lake City 1. No charge will be made for single copies." Only a small number of the original orig-inal mimeographed report of 225 pages were distributed to legislators legisla-tors and educator groups. Dr. Adam S. Bennion, chairman of the Public School Survey commission, com-mission, and Dr. H. Grant Vest, survey staff director, commended the Utah Foundation move to make the report widely available as a "significant public service and a major contribution to better understanding under-standing of Utah's school problems." |
