Show WILFORD LDS STAKE BUYS WELFARE FARM (July 21) The LDS Wilford stake bought a 235 acre farm north of Saratoga last April. Raising of oats, barley, wheat and hay on the farm this year, the stake plans to put in more wheat, some potatoes, beets and beans next spring, according to Max Tenant, agriculture member of the stake high council. "There will also be 2400 bushels of wheat that we plan to sell or store in the ward granaries. And eventually there will be cattle on the ranch," Tenant said The farm committee was headed by Holger P. Petersen, second counselor to the stake president. It is a project against a rainy day and all summer long stake workers volunteer their labor, groups of office workers, doctors, salesmen, machinists toiling after their regular work hours doing all the back-breaking jobs incidental to running a farm. |
