Show HUNTING ENDS, LICENSE GOOD TO f.lAHY The last of Utah's general hunting hunt-ing and fishing seasons for 1955 came to a close January 2, as the 80 day waterfowl hunt ended that day at 5:12 p. m., the department de-partment of fish and game said. The regular license seasons began be-gan this year May 28, with the opening of most waters to trout fishing. Trout fishing continued through October 9. A 15 day mourning dove season started September 1. This was followed fol-lowed by the October 15 opening of the waterfowl hunt. The general deer season began October 22, with both buck and doe legal game for an 11 day season over most of the state. A three to seven day season for the annual pheasant hunt began November 11. Special license hunts included the archery deer season in September, Sep-tember, the sage grouse hunt during dur-ing this same month, the elk hunts conducted on 13 units this year, and many other deer hunts designed by the board of big game control to attract hunters into deer-range problem areas. The department said field and office records to date indicate the outdoor seasons for 1955 will be finally recorded as giving normal or better success to creel and bag, with more license buyers afield than ever before. Final figures must await full returns from license li-cense agents over the state following follow-ing the first of the year. Sporstmen were reminded that the fish and game license year continues through April 15, at which time the new issue for 1956 will be available through all agents. |
