Show gpripn Branch Libr. So nth at City f"' SEE-SAW n Well, sir, Adiel F. Stewart and his "strong mayor type" government govern-ment are safely seated in the Salt Lake City and County building. His Honor, in executive session, apparency became satisfied to have the office formerly occupied bv Fail J. Glade AND the public safely department. Commissioner Lyle B. Nocholes had sought both, and Stewart had expressed his preference for same prior to his being sworn in. However, Nicholes grins with pleasure that he's finance and public relation chief now and he seems content with his third floor i suite, just as before, eventhough there previously had been some expression ex-pression to the contrary. Now, the mayor to prove himself him-self sufficiently strong to be boss-man, boss-man, must generate and exhibit some powerful political muscles and mental gymnastics to get out front of a commission full of such veterans as L. C. (Renny) Romney, et al. Some of the commissioners, to especially point again to the aforementioned, afore-mentioned, are mighty foxy, clever and highly skilled in getting things done or stalling things they don't want done. It could be a sort of a circus to watch for the jockeying that will go on the next few weeks as Adiel F. Stewart, Republican (and 'an election year), tests grips and skills with at least one Democratic commissioner. .- (: H '4 f -. - -J I J Si ' .rf 1- ADIEL STEWART Mayor must be strong;! |
