The system of bookkeeping he inaugurated in 1924 has continued to serve the college ever since that time. As honorary Doctor of Humanities, Humani-ties, Pontz now enjoys the results of the past 35 years o dedicated service as he continues to be a vital part of Westminster College. Pontz became a member of the Third Presbyterian church, and served there as treasurer, trustee and elder. In 1921, he first came to Westminster West-minster College where he served as bursar until 1922 when he was promoted to treasurer of the col- Parke M. Pontz, treasurer of Westminster College since 1922, was awarded the honorary degree Doctor of Humanities this week during a special all-student chapel held at Westminster College. The degree, honoring Pontz for his 35 years of service to the school, was conferred by Dr. J. Richard Palmer, president of the college. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1886, Pontz began his career in business at a teenager in the steel mills near his home. A short time later he moved to Omaha, Neb., where, for 10 years, he was associated with the Omaha Heavy Hardware Company. In 1916 Pontz moved to Boise, and two years later came to Salt Lake City as sales and advertising manager for the Utah Implement and Vehicle Company. After his move to Salt Lake, |
