Show SCHOOL CHIEF TALKS TO LIONS GROUP Speaker at the Holladay Lions club last Thursday was Elmer Christensen, president of Granite school board. Christensen commented on the accomplishments and headaches that have confronted the school board in the last inie years. During that time, Christensen said, the school population of the Granite area has increased from 9000 to 25,000, bringing consequent problems of adjustment to the attention at-tention of school board members, faculties and parents. He also commented on absenteeism absentee-ism from school which costs the school district 90 cents per child per day, and the enormous amount of loss incurred when a thousand children should be absent from the district's schools. Charles Cottrell, president, presided pre-sided at the meeting, while Arnold Ar-nold Burtner was program chairman. |
