Show IDS Opens Mid-year Conference The 126th semi-annual conference confer-ence of the LDS church opened Wednesday with the two day conference con-ference of the Relief Society on Temple Square, i The general sessions will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday beginning be-ginning at 10 a m. and 2 p.m. each day, with Pres. David O. McKay and his counselors, Stephen L Richards Rich-ards and J. Reuben Clark, presiding. presid-ing. Mrs. Belle S. Spafford, general president of the Relief Society, gave her annual report and "official "offi-cial instructions" to the Relief Society officers. Speakers were Dr. Adam S. Ben-nion, Ben-nion, member of the Twelve Apostles, Apos-tles, and Mrs. Elizabeth Romney, former president of the Relief Society So-ciety in the LDS Central American mission. Mark E. Petersen, member of the Twelve, also spoke as did the Relief Society presidency counselors, counse-lors, Mrs. Marianne C. Sharp and Velma N. Simonsen. Concluding the Relief Society conference will be the general meeting for workers and general public Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Tabernacle. J. Reuben Clark Jr., second counselor in the first presi-idency, presi-idency, will be the main speaker. Music was provided by the ' Sugar House Stake Singing Mothers, and the Berkeley, Cal., Stake Singing Mothers, for the Wednesday session. Directing the music was Florence 3. Madsen with Elder Roy M. Darley at the organ. |
