Show RECEPTION SET FOR SISTERS AT ST. AMfl'S A reception will be held Sunday, July 12,, at Kearns St. Ann's Orphanage Or-phanage for the Sisters of t h e Holy Cross. Ladies of St. Ann's invite all friends of the sisters to attend the affair. Light refreshments will be served. Mrs. Ella Wood is chairman of arrangements. The Sisters of the Holy Cross end 62 years of service as administrators adminis-trators of the orphanage. It was started by them in 1891 in an adobe building on the corner of 1st South and 2nd East. Facilities soon proved Inadequate and in 1899 the late Senator and Mrs. Thomas Kearns built the present pres-ent building. It has earned for the sisters a debt of gratitude both from the city and the hundreds of youngsters young-sters who have found a home there. The St. Ann's Orphanage will be operated by the Sisters of the Incarnate In-carnate Word. The reception will honor Sister Superior M. Alice Dorothea, Sister M. Dolorissima and Sister M. Aura of the Holy Cross. Mrs. Ellen Wood Is chairman ol" the affair, assisted by Mrs. Blanhce Davis, Mrs. Cora Brennan, Mrs. Lewis Gillett, Mrs. James Nielson, Mrs. Ira W. Kilpack, Mrs. Charles Madigan, Patrick Hessian, Gil Han-ley Han-ley and T. J. Raterman, members of the Men's club. Pouring at the refreshment table will be Mrs. S. ' A. Fraser, Mrs. Anna Meehan, Mrs. Frank A. Shields, Mrs. Jack Lochhead, Mrs. Beth Spell, Mrs. Mary Brink, Mrs. Pearl Bolte, Mrs. John Goggin and Mrs. Nick Julian. |
