Show Sou th easterners In The Neivs By ELAINE A. CANNON We're kind of proud of the people of this community ... as perhaps yeu've guessed by now. But we can't help mentioning it all over again when the record of two of the citizens of this area is brought to our attention. This week Mr. and Mrs. Jesse L. Barker celebrated 60 year" of happy mariage. The couple (-debated the day amidst a close circle of friends and family members at the home of their daughter with whom they live at 1938 10th East. The daughter is Mrs. Lou Eitel. There was plenty of reminiscing and the fond telling of stories of yesteryear yester-year that evening. The Barkers have had a colorful life and there is much credit due them. For 29 years Mr. Barker walked the dark street of Pierpont avenue in the capacity of night watchman. watch-man. He answered gunplay with gunplay and single-handed caught at least four burglars. Once he was very seriously wounded. Both of them are active ac-tive in the LDS Church. Mrs. Barker is a member of ihe Lincoln Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers. They are membes of Richard Ward. Four of their 11 sons and daughters are still living. They have 22 grandchildren. grandchil-dren. The four children still living liv-ing are: Mr. Zemba Page, Goshen; Gosh-en; Mrs. Eitel and Mrs. Melba Summers, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Leah Lillenquist, Tremon-ton. Tremon-ton. We were a little annoyed Sunday Sun-day when we couldn't get Mel-vin Mel-vin Glade on the phone .... tried all day. But there was reason rea-son enough for the ' long delay. Melvin was becoming a papa. The new arrival is a healthy little lit-tle girl that the Glades will take to their home at 2648 Dearborn. Yvonne Daniels, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels, of Superior, Wyo.i was married to one of our yonn geligibles in the Salt Lake Temple recently. The bridegoom 1 was Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jackson's son Blaine. The Jacksons live at 2055 E. 39th South, Mr and Mrs Willard Pngh's home in Holladay was the scene of a wedding reception in nonor of the newlywcds. The holidays will always be especially important to Arlene Van "Wagoner and her new husband, hus-band, Clent Crabtree. They were married two days after Christmas at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Alta J. Van Wagoner, 637 Kensington Ave. Roy A. West officiated. The bride was a lovely picture in white tulle and fitted lace bodice. bod-ice. She carried red roses. A festive fes-tive supper followed the cere-money. cere-money. Arlene is a graduate nurse and a former student of the U. of U. Clent served in the armed forces. They're living in Ogden. Boy oh boy oh boy . . . are the Emerson Burks feeling saucy these days! They have twins now . . . and what's more one of each. That's something to crow about isn't it? The Hurts live at 1601 E. 27th South St. While we're on that delightful subject of newcomers to the Sugar House Stork club let's talk about Raymond L. Stahl and his wife, 218 N. Main, that so many of you know out here. They have a boy who is making 2 year old Bonnie Rae plenty happy. Mr. and Mrs. Harry E.
