Show Southeast Bowling News The Southeast bowling court was the scene of the top bowling bowl-ing produced in the annual Utah State Bowling association's annual an-nual round robin tournament held Saturday evening and all day Sunday The fans that gathered gath-ered at the local courts saw four of the leading five bowlers perform. per-form. Dave Chipman with successively suc-cessively better games of 209, 214, 221 and a high tourney game of 254, is leading the class A field with an 898 series. Norm Shultz in second place sporting an 847, is followed closely by Al Able'tt, 842, and Earl Apple-quist Apple-quist in fifth place with an 819. Southeasterner Bob Stayner also did very well for himself ending up with an 809 in seventh place. Bill Ward in 24th place with a 771 proved the surprise of the day but cannot be counted out of the running with four more weeks left in which to complete the matches. The leading class B bowler also showed his stuff at the Southeast alleys. Jack Jones with games of 212. 220, 186, and 180 for a 798 series is leading the "B' boys. In the C division R. F. Mc-Lane Mc-Lane left the local courts Sunday Sun-day with a second place 780 series. se-ries. Doesn't seem like the score of a fellow who is supposed to have an average below 164 does it? The Southside classic's second-place second-place Comet Inn established the city's new high series of 3155 for the current play. The team composed of Bill Ward, Reed Worthern, Bill Knighton, Van Morely, and led by Ab Ward with games of 245, 202, .203, also estblishcd a new team game high of 1113. The first-place Camera Center team also bettered better-ed the old city team series mark by recording a 3039 series just a few minutes after the Comet bowlers. Walt Jones led the Camera Center teani with a 638. Carl Sandquist, manager of Southeast' Court, reported the local alleys produced two of the city's three 300 games during 1946. I |
