Show Sports Specialties f wmnaf-?T:r:v:'":::: by "Pete1" ' ' ,.---..,.,-.. Did you notice the guns for sale, in the classified ads in the paper Sunday morning? There seemed to be at least 50 and the prices were certainly up in the sky. Inflation really hit the used-gun market. Carbines, usually us-ually Helling for $30 at the most, were going for S!)0. I'm glad that I shoot a bow and don't have to worry about shells too. Balmy summer days are here again and I regret to state that nkiing is going to be delayed a short while, but the moisture that .settled from the late snow fall will aid greatly in forming a solid base for the coming season. sea-son. For all skiers we'll just have to wait until it snows. It usually does. Some of the new equipment is giving the ski shops a little trouble assembling. It seems that all the bugs are not out of the products as yet, but be patient, pa-tient, it will all come out for the best. I'm referring to the new safety binding, it takes a little more time to mount them on your skis. Ski boots are still very hard to get and likewise good wool ski pants. If you have any kind "of equipment that you can't iise I suggest that you contact your favorite dealer to see if he can sell them to someone some-one who really needs it. Such as boots, pants, and skiis. Kids are in dire need of ski boots so if you have any around the house that will not be used in the coming season, please do as I have stated. I have not had any reports of the deer hunting by hows as yet but feel sure that the bowmen bow-men are having the time of their lives. They are out, stalking their quarry and don't have to worry about being hit by a stray rifle bullet. To have the rest-at-ease feeling would certainly be bliss for the coming deer season when anproximately 80.-000 80.-000 hunters will be out. They will be using anything that they can get their hands on From tommy guns to hand grenades. Mother nature's children wi" certainly take a beating. Tt is estimated that only SI, 000 deer will be taken, but how many lives? Getting back to ski boots it's a pity to see some of the products prod-ucts that are now selling for ski boots. The American manufacturer manu-facturer does not seem to realize real-ize just what constitutes a good ski boot. There are many imported im-ported boots coming in, too, that are not the best in their line. It's too bad that these manufacturers manufac-turers don't call in someone that skis before cutting up his stock and spoiling it. About the only thing that I can see is that they beats going bare footed. I've heard that the lift at Alta will be operated a little different the coming season. It seems that there will be two lines of passengers: one will be for the lodge guests and one for the Salt Lakers. Every other passenger pas-senger on the lift will be a lodge guest and the same a Salt Laker. Tn that event 500 Salt Lakers, 50 lodge guests and what have you. This of course is a rumor about romantic Alta. Come what may, it seems that the American sportsman overcomes all obstacles that comfronts hint so I guess there is not much to fret about, but we can start doing do-ing somehlng about things like this. |
