Show around the C O R I SUGAR HOUSE Ej j ! With the Editor J 1 1 This issue marks the third week The Bulletin has been pub-' pub-' lished under the revised man agerial set-up. During this interim in-terim period Ted has moved up the journalism scale to publisher publish-er and all-'round overseer. Jim Cannon has taken over full time on the advertising and business end and I (Rich James) have taken over the editorial reins. It has been an interesting and happy three weeks for us . . . if a little tough on our sleeping schedules. Slow but sure we're getting to know more and more people. And slow but sure more and more people are getting to know us. We've appreciated the friendliness and kindlinesis, of the folks out here and we hope that we can reciprocate in kind. Please drop in any time and say hello. We'll be glad to see you and we'll be anxious to hear what you have to say about your paper. . The Bulletin joins a host of friends in wishing a speedy and complete recovery to Grant Macfarlane, state senator sena-tor and prominent Salt Lake attorney who is in St. Mark's hospital where he recently - nniiirsrV;7rrerions eye oper- -ation. GiTT is one of onr favorite friends a loyal supporter sup-porter and a grand guy. Last Saturday was the last day of Fire Prevention Week. We dropped up to the station to see if we could do a story on our local department, but somehow got sidetracked. However, we met Lieutenant Hansen, had a nice talk and assured him that we are going to get the local fire station story before long. He told us that he wished that more people would take an active ac-tive interest in their doings. He says that it's "their property, bought by their taxes," and that they ought to look it over once in a while. Well. Fire Prevention Preven-tion Week only comes around once a year, so that sort of ilmits any big public inspection tours. However, we think we'll accept Lietenant Hansen's kind invitation invita-tion and look the place over for everybody. ) It isn't very day a weekly paper pa-per scoops a national magazine, but we're making that boast this week . . . and we've got headlines to prove it. To those of you who read your Bulletin last week the headline on the returning Sugar House Legionaires' story is familiar: fa-miliar: "Footsore But Happy S. H. Legionaires Return From San Francisco Convention." The next day Life Magazine hit the stands with practically the same story. Life went tis one better, though, and printed a picture of three of our pretty drum majorettes major-ettes in a sore foot clinic. We've wired them for a reprint of that picture, but as yet haven't heard from them. When we do we'll let you know. |
