Show ! ?! DOING THE TOWN By Elaine Cannon Isn't it fun . . . Conference time with all the visitors and parties and reunions and stuff? And isn't spring exciting, any way . . . snow one minute, sunshine another . . . clothes blowing blow-ing on the line . . . social functions. Monday evening the members of Mortar Board Alumni Association are gathering at the home of Mrs. J. Arthur Knud-sen, Knud-sen, 1:153 South 19th East St. Mrs. John Longden is going to review the book "The Bishop's Mantle" and then there will be a chicken and noodle feast served hot from the pot simmering simmer-ing over the coals in the Knudsen's unique fireplace. Following Fol-lowing the buffet a business meeting will bo conducted by President Beryl Randall Grant and biggest item for discussion will be the nomination nom-ination and election of officers of-ficers for the coming year, p p Mrs. Julian Cannon, 2513 So. 15th East St., entertained the dozen members of her luncheon club at her home Thursday. Luncheon was served to Mrs. Lynn Garff, Mrs. Eugene Hooper, Hoop-er, Mrs. David Fenton, Mrs. Warren Pugh, Mrs. Gordon Gill, Mrs. Joe Weidner, Mrs. A. Ray Curtis, Mrs. Earl Gritton, Mrs. Glen Crandall, Mrs. Harold Brinton, and Mrs. Milton Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. Most of these young matrons are southeasterners, you know. They bring along their knitting and have a relaxing relax-ing good time when the lunch-t'Jn lunch-t'Jn is over at these r semimonthly semi-monthly get togethers. Conference visitors who are greeting friends and relatives this week out Millbrook way are Mr. and Mrs. Orvan Hicken who travelled all the way lrom Raymond, Alberta, Canada, for the April conclave. Dinner parties, lunches and what not have been keeping Mr. and Mrs. Wallace McBricle very busy during their two-week's stay here. The McBride's are former Salt Lakers, who are making their home in North Carolina these days. The Clive Davises came all the vay lrom. Vernal to see them (remember when they were Southeasterners?) Southeastern-ers?) and Mr. and Mrs. Parley Eccles got back from Arizona in time to say hello, too. t Dr. and Mrs. J. LeRoy Kimball Kim-ball entertained their Sunday night club at their home this week. We are dusting off the welcome wel-come mat again . . . this time it's for two sisters, and lovely ones they are, too. The girls and their husbands have purchased purchas-ed new homes in the 21st South. 24th East area and plan to become be-come loyal Southeasterners as soon as they get settled. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Gibbs (Midsje Van Wuinen) and their son, Randall, are living at 2448 'Wilmington. 'Wil-mington. Helen and her husband, hus-band, Bon Pickett and daughter De Ana, are living just about a block away from the Gibbs tani-ily. tani-ily. As yet the Pickett's have no street number so we'll tell you that news later. Mr. and Mrs. Aldon Jr. Anderson An-derson are entertaining at a steak fry Saturday night at their cute new home. T-bones and French fries will be the order of the evening and those lucky souls who get to join in on the fun include Stu and Winifred Wini-fred Jardine, Ted and Janath Cannon, Milt and Marie Weilen-man Weilen-man nand Lyle and Virginia Ward. . |
