Show Legion Awaits Annual Lagoon Outing Friday A feature of the annual Sugar House American Legion Post 65 outing and picnic at Lagoon next Friday, Aug. 23, will be an exhibition exhi-bition ball game between the Sugar House-Petty team and the Bennion-Bennett nine which nosed out the local team for second sec-ond place in the Legion junior tournament. Ernest J. Hamilton, post commander, com-mander, and Max Young, second vice commander, are in charge of arrangemeents for the outing which will feature a box lunch supper and a program of entertainment enter-tainment in addition to the ball game. The Sugar House nine will make its appearance for the first time in the classy new uniforms which arrived just too late for the league competition. Clay Mills, post athletic officer, is in charge of the team, assisted by Ab Ward and Sieb McGhie. Although the team barely missed miss-ed getting into the district tournament, tour-nament, Clay feels the boys made a fine showing, despite their lack of uniforms. In all, 35 teams participated in the Legion junior ball competition, with a total enrollment of 525 boys, Bingham, Bing-ham, champs of the local circuit, also won the state title and went to Colorado Springs to engage in the regional playoff. |
