Sylvia Sidney, Sid-ney, Robert Young and Ann Richards, co-starring in "The Searching Wind." Moving Drama Plays at Mario A film that will go down in motion picture annals as one of the great entertainment gems of our time, came to the Mario theater the-ater yesterday. It is Paramount's deeply moving Hal Wallis production, pro-duction, "The Searching Wind," co-starring Robert Young, Sylvia Sidney and Ann Richards. "The Searching Wind" is a picturization of Lillian Hellman's hit play that tells the absorbing adult story of an American diplomat, dip-lomat, the woman he loves, and the woman he marries. Their three-cornered romance is set in the capitals of the world against the seething turmoil of modern times. Robert Young as the diplomat gives a masterful performance of a man confused both in his personal and in his public life. Sylvia Sidney is seen as the newspaperwoman whom he loves, but whose strong principles prin-ciples are at such variance with Young's that she breaks with him. He marries the socially prominent Ann Richards, the latter lat-ter fully aware of the fact that his heart belongs to Miss Sidney. Sid-ney. How the three resolve their private problem and how it is affected by world events, makes "The Searching Wind" the exceptionally ex-ceptionally interesting, thought-provoking thought-provoking film it is. |
