Show emor Lloyd that we are 100 per cent behind him and his administration. admin-istration. Those who have not had the pleasure of meeting Governor Lloyd or of hearing him speak are in for a real treat as Governor Lloyd is a real Lion and a fine gentleman who really has his heart and soul in the work of Lionism. Let's all plan now on being in attendance next Thursday evening, 8:00 P. M.i October 10, at Andy's. Holladay Lions Club President J. ARCHIE AL.DOUS 1st Vice Free W. K. HAMMOND 2nd Vice Pre EARL BELXAP 3rd Vice Pres DON ARCHER Secretary HAROLD BENNION Treasurer CARL LARSEN BY MEL WRIGHT Chairman Club Publicity Committee Our congratulations to Lion and Lioness George Crowther on the birth of a new son last Wednesday, Wed-nesday, September 25th. Mother and Son are doing fine and Lion George is expected to be able to be up and about in time for our next meeting on the 10th. Lion Norm Berndt has been appointed Chairman of the Annual An-nual Fall Festival and has been given a free hand in picking his com;mittee for this event. Lion Norm informed the Club that if he is allowed to put on this show in his own way that he will assure as-sure us that it will be a real success as well as a fund raiser. Let's all get behind Lion Norm and show him that a Chairman of a committee does not have to do all the work by himself. The date and place of this event will be announced at our next meeting. Last Thursday at our regular monthly business meeting one of the most important motions ever made was approved by the membership. This motion effects every member in the Holladay Lions and those who were not present at the meeting will be notified of this action so that no member has an excuse that he did not know any thing about the action taken. The motion that -was made and carried was "That effective at once that the HoUa-day HoUa-day Lions Club abide by the Constitution Con-stitution and By-Laws in regards to attendance to regularly scheduled sche-duled Lions Club meetings." As every member is already aware the Constitution reads "That any member who absents himself from four consecutive meetings -without cause will be dropped from membership. It only stands to reason that members who fail to attend meetings are not giving the Club the support for the personal and Community good we hope to accomplish and for the objectives we wish, collectively, col-lectively, to attain.- Let us go forward as Lions without con sideration for the Mice. LET'S BE LIONS NOT MICE. We wish to extend birthday greetings to the following members mem-bers whose birthdays come during dur-ing the month of October: Bob Mulholiand, Oct. 4; Heber Petersonj Oct. 8; Gideon Omer, Oct. 10; Doc Osguthorpe, Oct. 12; Allen Terry, Oct. 13; Marion Steed, Oct. 22; Shay Gaddie, Oct. 26, and Jack Haigh, Oct. 28. Thursday, October 10th, will be distict governor night at our Club. Governor Lloyd Theurer will make his official visit to our Club on that night and every member is urged to be in attendance attend-ance that night to show Gov- that it deserves. The objects of Lions International Interna-tional and the objectives- of our local club can be attained only ty active members and steady attendance. Attendance depends upon habit and interest. Habit is wholly a personal trait, interest stretches further. It springs from the activity of others. If meetings meet-ings and programs are not conducted con-ducted so as to generate interest, recommendations and suggestions sugges-tions should be made to the club officers for specific changes and improvements. Lions International has set a goal of S5 percent for an attendance attend-ance average. To accomplish this average in our Club, each member can be absent not more than three meetings in the entire en-tire year. However, to maintain attendance merely to accomplish an abstract national goal is ab-" surd. Similarly to attend every fourth meeting merely to he kept on the membership rolls is . ridiculous. The member whose attendance is prompted by these motives qualifies himself as a Mouse rather than a Lion. , There is no place for a Mouse in a Lions Club. Lions are recognized recog-nized for1 their spirit, aggressiveness, aggressive-ness, determination, strength and kindly leadership. Let us interest ourselves in' Lionism |
