Show i Earwig Poison Dole Stopped The distribution of poison bait to control European earwig infestations in-festations has been discontinued, states V. L. Martineau, county agricultural agent. The program has been discontinued discon-tinued due to the fact that the budget made available by the Salt Lake county commissioners has been entirely used up and there are no nfore funds available avail-able for this purpose. Mr. Martineau states that a total of five tons of mixed bait has been distributed, this being about double the quantity distributed dis-tributed in 1945. The use of DDT 10 per cent powder in controlling European earwigs has proven very effective effec-tive and Mr. Martineau suggests that property owners acquire some of this material, to tie used in their control efforts for the balance of the season. This powder can be distributed distribut-ed around the base of shrubs, around the ground in flower gardens, and can be applied underneath un-derneath boards or pieces of burlap bur-lap laid around in flower beds and gardens. |
