Show Plans Complete For County's Greatest Fair' The most extensive improvements improve-ments yet attempted at the Salt Lake county fair grounds at Murray, will greet the thousands f- of fair-gores, Aug. 27, 28, 29. 30, and 31, E. O. Brothers, president and manager announced this week. Many thousands of dollars dol-lars worth of work is rapidly nearing completion at the grounds and will be finished in ample time for the fair. Because it is the fastest growing grow-ing fair in the state, facilities have not kept pace with the crowds, according to Mr. Brothers, Broth-ers, but the new installations should eliminate inconveniences. At the race track a complete rodeo plant has been installed, including corrals, holding pens, bucking chutes, and release chutes for bull-dogging steers and roping calves. Under the dnrection of Rodeo Chairman B. A. Reynolds one of the most modern plants in Utah has been built including accident-proof slides and release gates for the bucking chutes. Already completed are new horse and cattle barns, permanent perma-nent fixtures, with stall space for 60 animals. Extensive improvements and alterations have been made upon the huge exhibition building. Improvements in facilities for the dispensing of food and drink have been made to the sum of $10,000 by the Western Service company under the terms of its new three-year contract. con-tract. New stands have been erected erect-ed at the rodeo arena to increase in-crease the seating capacity from 1500 persons to 6000. Most spectacular of the improvements, im-provements, however are the approaches ap-proaches to the race track and rodeo arena entrances, and park------ - ing-fad'itis ...-. Parking space at the rodeo grounds and race track has been more than tripled, according to Mr. Brothers. The approach to the grounds from State street has been doubled in width and graded, as has the approach from the Murray City Park. The fair is expecting to break all existing attendance marks with the 1946 showing. |
