Show Week's Activities At Westminster The first guest speaker of tne second semester at Westminster College was Capt. Gaston Van-dermeerssche Van-dermeerssche of the Belgian army, who told a thrilling tale of his experiences as a member of the underground and as a political politi-cal prisoner of the nazis during the war. Speaking in behalf of the World Student Service Fund he told of needs in occupied countries, coun-tries, where a little child can be made happy for many days if an American friend sends a chocolate bar, and where mothers moth-ers are longing for a bar of soap so they will not have to scrub their babies' faces with sand. Miss Phyllis Cotro-Manes, student body president, said Westminster will support this movement again, as in former years. Prof. Glen Peelman, formerly head of the speech department at Pacific Lutheran College, Ta-coma, Ta-coma, Wash., has been added to the Westminster faculty for the second semester. He will offer courses in public speaking, and will coach student plays and debates. de-bates. The college Gospel team made a trip to Wyoming Sunday, conducting con-ducting church services in Evanston and Mountain View. Team members accompanying Prof. M. S. Hostetler were Betty Bet-ty Duval, Louise Turner. Jean Wagener, and Beth Corbett. President Robert D. Steele was in Pocatello, Idaho, Monriav and Tuesday, attending the annual i meeting of the Intermountain j Conference of Evangelical; Churches, of which he is president. |
