'Scarlet Street1 Now at Centre "Scarlet Street," heralded ar, the most explosive cinema melo drama to emerge from Hollywood Holly-wood in recent seasons, opened today at the Centre theater. Edward Ed-ward G. Robinson and Joam Ben- nett, are co-starred and Dan Dur-vea Dur-vea has the leading featured role. A modest, middle-aged cashier of a New York clothing company is the central character of the story. He is an artist of some ability. His painting provides an escape from a disagreeable mar-Tied mar-Tied existence and it is his frustrated frus-trated sentiment which excuses his fatal entanslement with a chance acquaintance, a beautiful beauti-ful but altogether disreputable girl. Robinson is seen as the credulous, cred-ulous, eager "little man" Winded Wind-ed and duped by physical charm. Miss Bennett appears as the scheming enchantress, the glamorous bait in a trap set to snare the man but in which she herself is eventually destroyed. |
