Petri is noted for having a phenomenal repertoire... j Beethoven's immortal "Appas-sionata," "Appas-sionata," the "Chaconne" by Bach-Busoni, Schumann's "Papi!-i Ions" and a group of shorter works by Chopin have been selected se-lected as the program of the evening by Egon Petri, world famed pianist, who will be pre sented in concert by the Granite Gran-ite Arts association Monday night at 8:15 at the Granite hign auditorium. This - presentation promises prom-ises to be the highlight of a season of outstanding attractions at-tractions staged this winter by the Granite Arts group, an organization or-ganization formed last spring for the purposes of bringing the finest in cultural attractions to the residents of the county. Two more concerts remain on the schedule, Iva Kitchell, daneer on March 11, and the famed Don j Cossack Russian chorus on j March 21. Admissions for these as well as for the Petri concert Monday may be obtained at the box office on concert night; according ac-cording to Dr. L. D. Burbidge, association business manager. Mr. Petri, of Dutch parentage, j studied with the leading musicians musi-cians of Europe throughout. hic youth, and as a young man payed violin in the Dresden Royal orchestra, in addition to frequent appearances in many of the leading string quartets of the period. He was well stab-lished stab-lished as a first rank violinist before he turned to the piano as a life work at the insistance of Busoni, with whom he had studied, and Paderewski. Petri made his debut as a concert pianist in Germany and Holland in 1902, playing twice at the Dutch court. The following follow-ing year he playsd his first con- |
