The Office of Price Adminstra-tion Adminstra-tion announced today the plan It it will follow in making stamps good for consumers use, and in taking them out of circulation after af-ter about four months use. Processed Foods Blue stamps: X5 thro B2 become valid December 1, expire March 31. Blue stamps: C2 thro G2 became valid January 1, expire April 28. Blue stamps: H2 thro M2, become valid February 1, expire June 2. Meats, Fats, Cheese, Etc. Red stamps: Q5 thro S5 became valid December 3, expire March 31. Red stamps: T5 thro X5 became valid December 31, expire April 28. Red stamps: Y5 thro D2, become valid January 28, expire June 2. Sugar Sugar stamp 34: Became valid November 16, expires February 28. Sugar stamp: 35: Becomes valid February 1, expires June 2. m lines in which they produced two years ago; clothing will be of better bet-ter quality; most clothing will carry .price tags giving top OPA ceilings; and firmer control of prices will be in effect at all lev-els lev-els including retail. It is important to note that this program will not increase the tot-al tot-al supply of civilian clothing but will shift emphasis from high priced and non-essential garments to lower priced and essential clothing. Consumers Guide Fost 47. Drastic steps laid down by the OPA and the" WPB will assure the civilians more low priced clothing within the next few months. Cost increases will now be absorbed by wholesalers and retailers instead of entirely by the manufacturer. Plans calling for production of more low priced pric-ed and essential clothing, better quality, most clothing to carry OPA price ceilings tags put on by the manfacturer, and firmer controls of prices at all levels, in eluding retail. BUTTER Butter will remain at twenty-four twenty-four points a pound during Feb-ruary, Feb-ruary, the OPA says, but margar ine wil be raised to three points a pound. Lard, Shortening, salad and cooking oils will be 2 points a pound. Several new items have been returned to the ration lists, such as bacon items and fat pork cuts which will call for one red point a pound hereafter. REFUND RENTS Nearly $5,000,000 was refunded to tenants in rent control areas throughout the United States during dur-ing 1944 by action of the OPA. More than Si2, 800,000 was refunded refund-ed to 60,000 tenants as the result i of formal action by OPA in cases j of overcharges, and more than ??.000,000 was refunded on secun ty deposits. |
