II. Girl After Learning Name Following removal of the prisoners from the Sugar House site this week, Mrs. Frankie Nielson of Jarnel's Apparel, Ap-parel, made public a humorous story involving a young lady who worked across the street from the prison. As the girl walked to work each morning, at a physician's physi-cian's office directly across 21st South from the penitentiary, peniten-tiary, the prisoners would wave to her. One Friday, not Jong ago, The Bulletin ran a picture of the girl and, of course, gave her name. That particular issue of The Bulletin traveled through the prison, and by the time the day was out, every inmate knew the girl's name. The next morning, and every morning morn-ing from then on, she was greeted with dozens of shouts, "Hello, Rita." "Good morning, Rita," etc. Last Monday morning, as she walked to work, she saw all the police, the guards, the curious onlookers, and finally the prisoners, as she approached a place opposite the gate. When the boys saw her, they immediately started to shout "Good morning Rita," and other friendly salutations. The onlookers, the police, the guards stared at the young lady, wondering how she had become so well acquainted ac-quainted with the prisoners. Rita acknowledged the shouts with a furtive wave, blushed to the roots of her hair, and scurried on to the office, as the prisoners made the best of the situation. The physicians for whom she works have been ribbing the popular young lady all week about her numerous "boy friends." mmtHHmimmnimiiiliiiHimimmmmiiimimKuiiiiiiiitmmmiMiiiMiNiiiNimmiiiimHimiitM |
