Kasteler, secretary of the Business Men's League, the city street and water departments have kept several men at work all day and night along the canyon can-yon streams that pass through the district, to keep them clear of debris to guard against flood waters. TEN YEARS AGO APRIL 18, 1951 Giving honor to the worthy , pioneers of the Sugar House district, a program will be held Wednesday evening, April 23, at the Irving Junior High auditorium, marking the anniversary of the founding of Sugar House. A gala street dance south of the Plaza will start at 30 p.m., immediately following the Founders Day program, according ac-cording to Samuel J. Nich-oles. Nich-oles. Carl Brown was elected president of the Sugar House Rotary Club Thursday. George H. Lucas is vice president; pres-ident; Charles Lobb, secretary; Hugo Ebmeyer and Horace Richards, directors. Jed Ash-ton, Ash-ton, retiring president, will become a board member. FIVE YEARS AGO APRIL 19, 1940 Dale Curtis, manager of the Curtis Coal Co., has been named chairman of the Sugar House division of the state cancer fund campaign. Mrs. G. B. Kendall was reelected re-elected president of the Flora Culture Club last Monday. Mrs. Leo Eager is first vice president; Mrs. Jed Ashton, second vice president; Mrs. John Zimmerman, recording secretary; Mrs. W. Treadway, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Vernal Bexgeson, treasurer. |
