Show Out East Mill Creek Way Babies, Marriages, Vacations And Fish Stories Top EMC Week By Edith Chamberlin Well, yes it's hot, that I will admit but not hot enough to stop East Mill Creekers from galloping here and there, getting married and joining the diaper brigade. Not to mention those all-summer vacations and over-night jaunts which our clan seems to delight so much in. Mr. Charles B. Swan, 3901 East 38th South, is a grandfather again! This time it's a darling little girl, Linda, born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Swan, Jr., of Orem. Utah, last Saturday. Now the proud grandpa has seven charming granddaughters and one adorable grandson Doug, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis N. Baglcy, 3500 27th East. It's a record to brag about, but my word who will carry on the graceful family name? "I feel like a human being again," remarked Mrs. Julian Neff, 3390 Oakwood Ave., after having her cast removed from that broken foot bone last Monday. "Now I can put on my shoes." The cast had been on since her accident June IS, so you can im-agie im-agie what she means. Her foot is healing that slow but sure way. Meanwhile daughter Nina Lou is keeping up the home front. But Mrs. Neff's broken foot is certainly not the star of the show. Son Albert (commonly known as "Turk") has slipped a sparkling diamond upon the proper finger of Miss Gloria Monson, 1556 Glen Arbor. Today Mrs. William. D. Backman is hostess of Gloria's announcement tea which will be the start of a whirl of parties and gaieties for the attractive bride-to-be. On Aug. 17 ding the parents of the bridegroom, -Mr. and Mrs. Julian Neff, will the couple will wed in the Salt Lake Temple. Following the wed-1 wed-1 The couple will spend a gay honeymoon in, California and then honor the couple at wedding breakfast at the Newhouse Hotel, return to Salt Lake, where plans are still indefinite. Verl C. Staten, Jr.,. 2265 East 3370 South. He pop'ped in on July 4 and is still going strong. His Mom, former Jean Deben-ham, Deben-ham, is still in a dither to be Verl G. Staten, III, or not to be. However, if you have any suggestions which might help solve this perplexing problem I'm sure they would be appreciated. appre-ciated. Continued on page 4 A wee one has arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Epperson, 1119 First Ave. Mrs. Epperson, former Beth Waller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Newell New-ell B. Waller, 2490 East 33rd So., says the young heir will be named Robert Hampton. All seven pounds of him first appeared ap-peared on June 29. And, of course, we have our surprises. This one is the marriage mar-riage of Miss Ruby Sackett. granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. George B. Wright, who slipped away last Christmas to Reno, Nev., to marry Donald Lemmon so now the news comes 'round. It seems the couple took off for Reno around Dec. 24, were married Christmas day, honeymooned in Nevada for a spell, and then sauntered on to California before returning home. At the present Don is in San Diego quite enjoying his bell-bottom trousers and Ruby is staying with her grandparents grandpar-ents at 3478 South 23rd East, can hardly wait until he comes home on leave in about a week. That is what you call a "fast one." "He's a little firecracker with gobs and gobs of red hair." That, my friend, is the description of the young son of Mr. and Mrs. East Mill Creek . . . Continued from Page 3 And now we have our weekly fish story. On Tuesday past, Mr. and Mr. John M. Neff, El-Wood El-Wood and LaRail Jfcff and baby managed to squeeze in a day of fishing at Fish. Lake. Everything Every-thing was fine, and then LaRail pops up with nine of the biggest, big-gest, juiciest fish you ever did see. In all fairness to the masculine mas-culine side of the story I will say Mr. Neff and Elwood managed man-aged to come up with eight of the teeniest, weeniest little fish just the right size to throw back in. Anywho, La Rail's catch tasted might good, although Elwood El-wood vows his fishing days' are through. Making her debut just in time to have a birth date same as her grandmother, was the sweet 5 pound baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gilbert, 468 Hubbard Ave. Mrs. G. Rodney Ashton, 3334 South 1940 East, left her birthday party on July 15 to greet the newcomer. The babe's mom, of course, is the former Mary Ann Ashton. Back in her favorite community commu-nity is Mrs. E. Lillywhite, former for-mer Miss Ruth Clayton, daughter daugh-ter of the C. Leroy Claytons, 2251 Lambourne Ave. The Lil-lywhites Lil-lywhites traded their home in EI Paso, Texas, for one located at. 3100 South 23rd East. It's "real nice" to have them back and we hope they stay. Also chosen to represent Granitian Girls at Girls' State in Logan was Miss Barbara Woodhead, 2234 East 3380 South, who reports a wonderful time. Doings consisted of everything from tennis, lectures, swimming to a formal dance. Barbara really real-ly had fun. Miss Barbara Barlow, Bar-low, daughter of Mrs. A. Bolva Barlow, 3504 South 23rd East, who was a reresentative to Girl's State last year was honored hon-ored at a special meeting of the group one evening as being a "veteran" of the organization. We're proud of our gals. |
