Show THIS and THAT By Leah Bond Smorgasbord-mmm that's what they had over at Relief Society on Tuesday. The officers, offi-cers, teachers and members enjoyed en-joyed a lovely afternoon celebrating cele-brating the birthday of the Relief Re-lief Society. After a luncheon a program of varied musical numbers was presented. Special Spe-cial guests of the day were PRESIDENT and MRS. ERNEST ERN-EST A. NELSON, who were honored by the society before thev leave on their mission. At the GLEN CORNWALL home on Sunday evening, BRYAN BRY-AN ESPENSCHIED was the speaker for the Gleaner Girls-M Girls-M Men Fireside. ... In the Special Interest group on Tuesday, Tues-day, BRYAN WHEELER and some of his missionary companions com-panions gave talks and demon-trations demon-trations on some of the customs of the Argentine. STAKE PATRIARCH and MRS. ALEC CURTIS are being be-ing welcomed home after their recent trip to California. On March 20, in the Hawthorne Haw-thorne Ward, a mothers' and daughters' meeting will be held. It is a stake affair and the mothers and daughters will hear LOUISE LAKE talk. MERLYN EDWARD is going back to Stanford this spring to resume her studies. While she has been there she has maintained main-tained an outstanding scholastic scholas-tic average and was named a PHi Beta Kappa. RUBY HASLER has been named as activity counselor m the MIA. She is replacing DONNA THOMPSON, who has moved to Idaho. BRITT HANSEN, a young convert to the church, who has been in this country just one year, gave the short talk on Sunday evening. Our own youth choir has been asked to furnish the music for the Priesthood Leadership meeting, at which LEGRAND RICHARDS will be the speaker. It's a baby girl for the MERRILL MER-RILL DAVISES, 1030 Hollywood. Holly-wood. Mother and baby are doing do-ing fine in spite of the fact the wee one was born during the blackout on Thursday night. Big brother CRAIG is anxiously anxious-ly waiting at grandma's for mama and sister to come from the hospital. The BOB HERZOGS are the proud parents of a baby girl, too. The little one is their first. At Scout Court of Honor, held in Richards Ward on Tuesday, Tues-day, seven of our scouts were presented their second class pin. Last Tuesday Troop Committeeman Com-mitteeman ERNIE NIEDER-HAUSER NIEDER-HAUSER reviewed the scouts on their requirements and presented pre-sented REUEL McPHIE, LYLE TESTER, REED' S1IEVERTR, IVAN HILL, TED BURTON, JIMMIE BOND and ROSS JACOBS JA-COBS a' swell knife for having passed their tests' in a given time. |
