Show Chamber Meeting To Discuss Spring Events, Improvements Board Charts Major Spring Events And Institutes Betterment Program Big things are in store for Sugar House during 1950. That will be the theme of the monthly membership meeting for Tuesday, March 21, at. the Beau Brummel Restaurant, 3100 Highland Drive, according to A. W. "Mickey" Hart president. Last Wednesday, at a meeting of the board of directors, plans were outlined for two community celebrations during the spring months, as well as for civic improvements. Details of the celebrations cele-brations are a "top drawer" secret to the public for the present, : : Mr. Hart said, but they are guaranteed to be up to the usual high 1 standard. Celebrations plans will be submitted at the Tuesday meeting, he said. Among the civic improve- ; . i ; ments under study at the pres- : ent time are more parking lots and new streets, Dale R. Curtis, chairman of the public affairs committee of the chamber said that the committee will soon meet with city officials for approval ap-proval of development plans.; There is still plenty of open space available for convenient parking areas, Mr. Curtis said. The chamber desires to antici pate future growth of Sugar House by providing plenty of parking space. Street plans call for a through street from Highland Drive to 9th East somewhere in the vi- cinity of the D&RGtV tracks ' ,. and the opening of Wilmington Avenue to 13th East. Other suggestions are also under consideration, con-sideration, Mr. Curtis said. New members of the chamber will be introduced at the Tuesday Tues-day meeting by Stephen C. Richards, chairman of the-membership the-membership committee. Mr. Hart has also slated some mu-ical mu-ical numbers for presentation during the luncheon! Present at the Wednesday board meeting in addition to Mr. Hart, Mr. Curtis and Mr. Richards Rich-ards were Fred C. Lawson and Marriner H. Merrill. |
