By Elaine Cannon Did you ever see so many people at one farewell in all'your life as were packed into the meeting house to bid adieu to Shirl Cornwall Sunday evening? Shirl is leaving soon for the British mission and hopes to have a reunion in England with brother Alien Al-ien when he returns from his mission in Prance. News that you southeasterners will delight in is that Johnny and Nancy Richards Poulton have a baby boy about one week old. Xancy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stayner Richards of Alden St. Johnny and X'ancy are living in a brand new home at 451. X". 11th West. Paternal grandparents of the newborn infant are Mr and Mrs.. Donald G. Poulton of 800 Amanda Ave. On a shopping spree in one of our smart shops in Sugar House was Mrs. Jay Love. Mrs. Love, who will be remembered as the former Beth Sheffbielu, was buying some darling lace trimmed trim-med undies for her tiny 2-year-old daughter. Mr. and Mrs. David S. King, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Adamson and Dr. and Mrs. Elvon Jackson spent Friday evening together at an open house and then returned re-turned to the Adamson's home out East Mill Creek way for chatting and light refreshments. The darling home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Judd, 49S5 is all in readiness for the new baby. Yes, the good news in the Judd family these days is the arrival of a blue-eyed blonde haired daughter. She was born Tuesday Tues-day on Ted's birthday. Mrs. Judd is the former Jeannette Clawson and is the mother of Curt, Julie and Danny, too. Paternal Pa-ternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Judd, 516 Thirteenth Ave., and Mrs. Curtis Y. Claw-son, Claw-son, 1179 Surmyside Ave. Mortar Board alumnae women wom-en met at the home of Mrs. J. Arthur Knudsen Monday evening eve-ning for chicken and noodles served from the open fireplace. During the evendng Mrs. Stacy L. Struble (Helen Smith) and Mrs. George W. Poulson (Or-lene (Or-lene Jones) were elected to the offices of president and vice president, respectively. Other officers Include Marian Darger, secrtary, Mrs. Jack M. Jensen, treasurer; Beth West, historian; Jean Ward, publicity. Mrs. Roland Bain entertained a group of friends Monday night at her home, 3504 So. 27th East St. The group is made up of the presidents of the Young Women's Wom-en's Mutuals of the 17 stakes inj Salt Lake Valley. The group felt honored to have special guests for the evening. They were Mrs. Lucy Grant Cannon, general gen-eral president of the YAVMIA and Mrs. Bertha Stone Recder, who will take over duties as president of the church group in June. Mrs. Reeder was introduced in-troduced to the group by Mrs. Cannon. Among those present at the home of Mrs. Bain who is president of the church group Stake Mutual, were Delores Merrill, Hillside stake; Lucille Ford, Liberty stake; Ernia Marti, Park stake; Jean E. Smith, Pioneer stake; Edna Coleman, Riverside stake; She-lah She-lah Woodland, Salt Lake; Verna Cowley, South Salt Lake stake; Edith Snarr, Sugar House stake; Leah Wood, Bonneville stake; Matilda Girrard, Emigration stake; Bculah Glade, Ensign stake; June Brewer, Grant stake; Marjorie J a y n e s, Highland stake; Lucy Gertsch, Temple Viek stake; and Ann Pehrson, Wells stake. Speaker for the evening was Ann Pehrson, who is also dean of women at Granite High school. |
