DOING THE TOWN By Elaine Cannon Talk about tootin' your horn . . . the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce members had a wonderful time doing just that this week when they took their wives (or partners) to lunch at the swank Beau Brummel restaurant. Good feeling abounded, plenty of respect, homage and thanks paid those deserving . . . credit given where credit wias due . . . and all businesses out here in our inimitable community were given a hearty pat-for-progress on the back. Mickey Hart, club president, was a terrific EmCee. The food was yummy and the program nothing but interesting. Lee Humpries of the Granite High music department brought three very talented young people along for musical show. Bonnie Dippo, soprano; Talmage Robinson, Rob-inson, baritone and Suzanne Burbidge, pianist. Their contribution con-tribution was outstanding. Enjoying the social were such well-knowns as Bnd Brain and his wife, the mis-sns mis-sns looking as chic as her clothes-wise hubby. She was wearing a navy tailored tailor-ed dress with red accessories acces-sories and a grey greatcoat. Saw Mr. . and Mrs. Alton Melville, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Romney, Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Curtis, Mr. and Mrs. John DeHaan, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Sorensen. Orin and Fern Smoot Hanson and Rus Shurtleff were on hand. Likewise Dick Lambert, Paul Langton, Newman Petty, Allen Coombs, Allen Seegmiller. Everybody joined in a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday" to Ne-phi Ne-phi J. Hansen, "mayor" of Sugar House. Parties, partes, parties for popular brides-to-be- Nonie Nelson Nel-son and Emma Lou Warner, both past presidents of Chi Omega. Sweet apartment of Beth West and Barbara Caine buzzed with gay chatter when the girls stitched on dish towels for Lou. Saw Mrs.' Robert Richards, Mrs. Oscar G. Booth, Mrs. Ned Wiliams, Mrs. Cal Gaddis, Diane Hunsaker Claudia Clau-dia Van Voorhis, Nonie's sister, Mrs. Rick Warner, Nedra Mor-tensen, Mor-tensen, Marjorie Jones Campbell, and others. Mrs. Joseph 'Wirthlin entertained en-tertained friends at her home the other evening. A cozy fire in the fireplace, and good company, delicious refreshments, made the evening eve-ning a pleasant one for Mrs. Stuart Jardine, Mrs. Robert Ward, Mrs. J. Allen Al-len Jensen, Mrs. Scott Claw- ; son, Mrs. Elvon G. Jackson, Mrs. Les Hewlett Jr., Mrs. i Lyle Ward and Mrs. Joseph Tanner. Welcome in the form of fam-ilyl fam-ilyl party for Mrs J. W. R. Robinson Rob-inson and her mother, Mrs. S. Q. Cannon who have just returned to Salt Lake after an extended visit in California. The Julian Cannons and the W. . Richards were in on the partying. Neighborly night ... at the lovely home of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hunter. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. David Da-vid F. Wood. |
