Show BEST IN HISTORY S. H. Chamber Board Maps Banner Year For Community "Sugar House will have its best year during 1951 since its founding," according to Paul L. Pehrson, Sugar House Chamber of Commerce president. Following a chamber board meeting Wednesday noon, Jan. 31, Mr. Pehrson announced that the standing committees of the chamber are nearly completely organized, and will shortly embark on an ambitious program for 1951. "Since Sugar House is the center of population," he said, "we're going to see to it that it is properly developed" IDEAS FROM TRIP Mr. Pehrson told of his recent trip through California, where civic improvement projects are very much in evidence. He speci- fically cited the excelemt community com-munity restrooms which were installed in most California towns. Mr. Pehrson added that "Sugar- House will definitely have its public restroom this year." Progress of the state park project for the prison site was outlined by Public Aifairs Chairman Horace A. Sorensen. (See story on this page). Mr. Sorensen pointed out that legislators leg-islators from both parties, and all parts of the -state, are supporting sup-porting the state park program. pro-gram. RETAIL PLANS , In charge of all retail events for 1951 Is Marriner H. Merrill, first vice president of the chamber. cham-ber. Mr. Merrill Is currently-selecting currently-selecting a committee, which will have charge of Sugar Days, Friendship Days, Turkey Days, and all other matters pertaining per-taining to retail trades. DUAL OBJECTIVE Spearheading a membership drive is Ray D. Free, former president of the chamber. Mr. Free announced that his committee com-mittee had a dual objective for the year: (1) increased membership; member-ship; (2) establishment of a wel- coming ana "cordiality" committee com-mittee for chamber and community com-munity functions. Other committees which are also being organized, with their committee chairmen are: Publicity Pub-licity and Tourist Trade, Neisen R. Bank; Program and Enter-taiment, Enter-taiment, A. W. "Mickey" Hart; Business Development, Paul L. Pehrson. The Finance Committee, Com-mittee, formerly headed by F. R. Lawson, will soon have a new chairman, due to Mr. Lawson's departure from Sugar House, Mr. Pehrson announced. |
