Show Last Call for "Miss Utah" Contest I State Fair from September 1st to 4th. The Utah State Fair will buy "Miss Utah" three formal dresses to be used in pageant functions at Atlantic City; pay all of her expenses including first-class round trip transportation, pullman, meals, etc., to Atlantic City where hotel accommodations and all expenses are furnished while the candidate is taking part in the pageant. The State Fair does not pay expenses of the entrants in the State Contest, Con-test, but there is no charge to enter. The purpose of the Contest is to find an intelligent, healthy, beautiful beau-tiful and talented young woman who desires special training or a college education. She must be a citizen of the State of Utah, single and never have been married; between be-tween the ages of 18 and 28 on th date of the National finals September, Sep-tember, 1948; possess talent or give a three minute talk on the career she wishes to pursue. Applicants should write or phone 3-6705 immediately to the "Miss Utah'' Contest, Administration Building, State Fair Grounds, Salt Lake City 3, for official entry blanks. Opportunity is knocking for some Utah girl who will be named "Miss Utah" at a contest being held in connection with the Utah State Fair, September 1 to 4. Each year the Utah State Fair Association, through the "Miss Utah" Contest, selects a girl to represent Utah at the "Miss America" Amer-ica" Pageant held annually at Atlantic At-lantic City, New Jersey. This is the most colorful and elaborate beauty-talent contest held in America. Amer-ica. Before a girl can enter the "Miss America" Pageant, she must win a local contest. The Utah Fair holds the franchise for the contest con-test in this state. The winner of the "Miss America" Contest is granted a $5,000 cash scholarship, which she can use at any school of her choice. The first runner-up wins $3,000; the second $2,500; third .52,000; fourth $1,500; and the next ten girls $1,000 each. The girl acclaimed "Miss Utah" will have the exclusive right to represent rep-resent our state at this national contest.
