Most of Saturday's games in the Westminster Junior Basketball Basket-ball race were close ones and several sev-eral of them were real surprises. At the half Highland Park held a 14-8 lead and everyone expected the Parkers to carry off another win, but Wasatch turned on a fast offense and a stiff defense which held the Hylanders to two field goals in,Xhe final half. Glade led the Wasatch five with ten counters while Mulvey and Hilton helped with 7 and 6. Morgan of the losing team topped all scorers scor-ers with 11 points. For the first time this season Allen Cornwall of Highland Park was held to one field goal. Granite Furniture, Bryan Juniors Take Undisputed Top Spots Bob Smith of Granite went "loco" in the Parleys game to snare 23 counters which made him high man for the day. The whole Granite team played excellent ball during the last three quarters quart-ers when their fast breaks found Parleys "off guard" time and Ume again. Brower of Parleys was top man of the losing five with 8 tallies. This 37-23 victory gives the Granite squad an undisputed un-disputed lead in the upper bracket brack-et of the Junior division. Bryan Junior almost faced a loss' when Glenn Davis of the 2 Dodgers stood on the foul line at the end of the game for a free try and with the score 12-12. Davis misserl the all important try and in an extra three minute period Bryan pulled out to a 20-14 win. Fred King was probably the hero of the game because of his timely field which knotted the score for Bryan with just a few minutes to go. Bryan now leads division B of the junior bracket. Monarchs Defeated in Lust Minute of Play Bob Osborn's Southeast elan scored only 3 points in less than one minute during the final oer-iod oer-iod which pulled them to a tough 17-16 triumph. La Mar Hemsley of Southeast snatched a bad pass right under his own basket and calmlv tossed in the winning goal Harr topped the losing team with 7 points while Osborn and Hera-sloy Hera-sloy each scored 6 counters for Southeast. , SPerry Juniors "Click" For a 30-9 Win Don Sperry's Junior team wilt be hard to stop now that they have found themselves in their one-sided victory over Harry's Garage. Sperr's rushed the Ga-nge Ga-nge team so fast and so hard that they finally broke down both defence de-fence and offense and coasted to a 30-9 finish. Lanky Ted Saul rung up 12 points before the tilt was over while Jim Tidwell anc Hughes turned in some excellent supporting work. The Garage five did manage to "bottle up" the flashy Oliver who only hit one field goal for Sperrv's. "Blacky" Walton turned in the best all round performance for the Oar-agequint. Oar-agequint. Hawthorne Tips Snorrv Seniors in Round Robin Sperrv Seniors could not get going Saturdav and finally wound ur on a 24-23 loss to Hawthorne. Abe Berthold pared the Hawthorne Haw-thorne five with a 7 points while Lester Haymore topped Sperry's with 6. In other senior tilts.
