Show (Being Trained for Hawaiian Service A total of 3.39 men and women are now being trained in post schools at the Ogden Air Service Command for assignment to the Hawaiian Air Depot. A majority have been recruited within the nine-state command irea, it was announced by Colonel John S. MacTaggart, chief of the personnel and training, while the remainder have been seit hre for training by other commands. Response to the plea for enlistment enlist-ment of workers has been very widespread. Candidates are given 90 dayg training in supply or maintenance tasks during which they are paid in excess of $200 month. Those excepted in the case of men have been over 30 years of age or disqualified for military service while most of the women appointed are between 18 and 37 years of age. They agree to remain re-main in the islands for the duration dura-tion and six months. Quite a few married couples are registered for the training which will qualify them fof the same type of fourth eschelon sup-ply sup-ply and maintenance wprk car-ried car-ried on by the Ogden Air Service Command. Need for additional workers in Hawaii has been spurred by the increased tempo of the war in the Pacific, Colonel MacTaggart said. |
