Wagstaff Is March Bride Back home following a honeymoon in Florida are just-wed- s Mr. and Norman Groen-dyk- e Jr. The bride is the former Miss Kathy Ann Wagstaff, daughter - of Mr. and Mrs. 'H. G. Wag-staff, 2773 East Spring Creek Rd. She chose a floor length gown of lace styled with fitted bodice and wrist length sleeves. Nylon pleats accented the full skirt. The ceremony and reception were held in the 01ympu3 High Seminary Bldg. Her veil of illusion was caught to a tiara of pearls and net. She carried, a bouquet of white carnations and white rosebuds encircling an orchid. Attendants included Miss Shawn Groendykte, maid of honor; Miss Linda Cook, Miss Gay Alvey, Miss Diane Davis, and Miss Marsha Groendyke. Maid of honor donned a white lilac dress, while brides-maids wore lavender taffeta dresses. All carried bouquets of white carnations surround-ing lavender flowers. For traveling the bride chose a navy blue and white en-semble. The bride has been the in-spiration for many pre-nupti- al parties. Miss Kathy Ann Wlagstaff became the bride of Norman Groendyke. (Photo Courtesy Deseret News) Women Elect Officers For Year Council of Women elected officers Monday and the annual tree planting ceremony hon-ored retiring officers. The meeting began at 10 a.m. at the Blind Center, 309 1st South. Mrs. Theo Kendall and, Mrs. Harvey Penney were in charge Df the program. After the meeting the group reassembled at Lindsay Gar-dens for the annual tree-planti- ng ceremony. Mrs. B. Lue Bettilyon, retiring president will be honored. Her mother Mrs. Mattie C. Sanford, will dedicate the tree. Mrs. Harvey Penney is in charge. Olympus Hi Notes Lucy ienseu Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, members of the Olym-pus student body registered for voting. Each student must register to be able to vote in the elec t i o n for student body officers and cheer leaders. Thursday and Friday the ft v :'i - f i nominating assemblies were held. On Thursday the candi-dates for historian and vice-preside- nt were presented. The candidates for secretary and president were introduced in Friday's assembly. The can-didates for historian are: Pat Shannon, Judy Wright, Lavelle Ridd, Judy Hillam, Mary Kay English and Elaine Anderson. The candidates for secretary are: Patty Jo Quinn and Ann Voorhees. The candidates for vice president' are: Kay Rus-sell, Aggie Georgeson . and Leiland Margetts. The candi-dates for president are: Bob Pace, Ron England, Barry Top-ham.Ji- m Johnston, Fay Elg-gre- n, Ralph Adamson, Jim Moss and Warren Dansie. The primary elections will be held April 7. Final elections will be held April 14. . The sophomore class party, "The Unforth of July Bean Bash", was held Wednesday in the Olympus high gym. The dress was casual. Sophomore class officers from other schools in the district were invited and introduced. Each school brought one talent act with them. There were fortune telling booths, fish ponds and many other entertaining acti-vities. The exci-tin- g, event which was the last time these graduating st-- udents will all be together climaxed the two week beard growing contest. Class officers Sterling Francom, president; Spencer George, vice-presiden- t; . and Dottie Duncan, secretary presented the prizes to the winners. Mike Caputo was awarded the Grand Prize which was a curry brush. Mackie Magel-by'- s. growth was judged the Most Tailored Looking and he won a bottle of dipilitory cream. Marshall Beall was awarded a childs shaving set for the Beard Most Magnifi-qu- e. Dave Cartwright with the Beard Most Classique was pre-sented a sefety ' razor and Denny Bonny with the most humorous growth was given a (Continued on page 7) |
