Show "The Menace" The average motorist believes he owns the highways 100-percent. Yet-in reality he is 99-percent liable for accidents on the highways high-ways involving bicyclists and mounted horsemen. The motorist must be in complete control of his vehicle, .while at the same time be on the lookout for both animate and inanimate objects that will cause him liability. The rider can't brake a bolting horse nor a small bicyclist gain control' if frightened by a loud horn. The by a blast from a horn. The motorist must slow to a snails pace or come to a complete stop until the danger is past, while he curses and berates the horseman or cyclist as a "Menace on the highway," high-way," and "The greatest danger to the Motorist!" And-while the highway high-way takes its death toll, the motorist using city and state roads feels no responsibility. Now tne motorist will not pay a thin dime to provide a pleasure path for the bicyclist and horseman horse-man enthusiast, but-while he swears, for being delayed by the horsemen or bicyclists --that is, he will "give any amount of money to keep this menace off the highways high-ways --it's no place for them in traffic..." I would suggest that we accept the brand of "Menace", and for the purpose of fund . raising for Bridal Trails and Paths, use the slogan: Motorist! Remove Menace from Highways. Put Horse Enthusiasts Enthus-iasts and Cyclists on River Banks and Canals where they belong. Send $1. to: Bridal Trails and Paths, 479 South 6th East, Salt Lake City. Utah. In accordance with the campaign underway to secure funds for. bridal paths for horseback riding, the Silver Spurs are planning a dance for April 2nd to add funds to their contribution. |
