Show Greek Visitor on Field Trip To Study Underground Water Here from Athens, Greece as a United States Technical Assignment Assign-ment Participant, Athansious Dounes, a graduate from the University Uni-versity of Athens, and one of the very top men in his field in his home country is at present on a field trip studying the under -ground water situation in the West. Accompanying R. Glenn Butler an" engineer for the United States Geological Survey, the young student stud-ent will go first . to the Vernal area, and from there to Rangely, Colo. After completion of study in that area, they will go to Moab, Blanding, Bluff, Monticello, La Salle and Mexican Hat in the southeast part of Utah. In these areas they will check the various observation wells of the USGS, to. watch the fluctuation of the underground water levels. Having arrived in our vallev about October 1, Mr. Dounes will leave about Nov. 17, this being only one of many scheduled stops the young engineer plans to make in his study of the advanced methods me-thods of water conservation and control in our country. |
