Show Congressman Dawson Reports Not the Heat Most political columnists would !have you believe that it is Washington's Wash-ington's summer heat that puts the pressure on Congress to adjourn. ad-journ. This is not the case. Most members of Congress have families fam-ilies with school age children. They naturally want their families fami-lies to accompany them when jthey return home to meet with their constituents and review state 'problems. In order to make this i possible, Congress must adjourn ibefore school starts. This year jwe did not make it. As a result, most of us will reluctantly leave our families in Washington, while we return to the state. Provo Office My plans are to open an office in the City and County Building in Provo. The office will be open from 9 a.m. til 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from September 16 to September 30. During October, Octo-ber, I will have an office in Salt Lake City in the Newhouse Hotel. I hope any resident of my district who has a problem with his government, gov-ernment, or who has some suggestions sug-gestions that would assist me in my work in Congress will feel free to make an appointment to , see me. Many outstanding legis-l legis-l lative accomplishments originate as the result of independent think-1 think-1 ing on the part of our citizens ' who share these ideas with their representatives in Washington. Capitol Office 1 My office in Washington also t will be open during adjournment of Congress and Utahns visiting the nation's Capitol are invited to ber, must pass on all reclamation projects. My staff there can be helpful in arranging special tours, making hotel reservations reser-vations and suggesting places to visit in the area. In addition, the office will enable me to keep in close touch with the executive agencies ag-encies during adjournment. It is during this period when Congress is away that the federal bureaus prepare their budgets and programs pro-grams for next session of Congress. Con-gress. This is ihe time that members mem-bers of Congress can lay the foundation foun-dation for legislation they expect to propose when we reconvene next January. Committee Hearings November and part of December Decem-ber will be taken up with Committee Com-mittee hearings. It is during these hearings in the field that members mem-bers of Congress gather the information in-formation to enable them to vote intelligently on issues that will be presented to them next -year.
