Show city council makes plans for program of beautification on appoints appoint committee to work out details for improvement ol of city park cemetery improving and beautifying the city park and cemetery were discussed at the meeting of the city council in session monday evening and a committee was as appointed tr to consider plans and make recommendations ions for carrying on de work B 0 colton heads the committee which is made up of clyde larsen lynn orser walter E atwood joseph alo moysh ys h mrs airs reva lundberg and mrs airs tina wilkins other members to be added as the program enlarges several suggestions were considered particularly those made by irvin T nelson ason land landscape expert for the L D S church who visited here last month mr air nelson sug the development of a rock garden on the rocky hill north of the cemetery the construction a ot a native stone etona archway entrance to the cemetery grounds and the extension of the city park west to lu the end of the block the program is in line with the statewide state wide plan sponsored by the church and cities to beautify the state in in preparation for the centennial celebration in 1947 revised budget the tentative revised budget for 1939 was considered and a budget hearing was set get for 8 p m november 28 in the city office A letter from the utah oil company was read authorizing the placing of ste steel ea cu lverts across the gutter on their main street station the council advised the company that the cu lverts will be placed immediately but the asphalt covering must be dela delayed yec until warm weather the request of john pappas to it operate a pool hall in the city wan wa denied by the coun council dil an official canvass of the recent elections tally sheet was made and the following declared elected for mayor george H harrison farrisi n fo for r four year councilman J leo hanson for two year councilmen ted harmston clair C larsen and clyde larsen for recorder john I 1 E and for treas aurer arnold reef |
