Show other people s money commenting on the extravagance of a congressional committee a member of that body recently grew bold enough to point out that when seven members and employees recently went on an official trip chev bought 10 railroad tickets each one took a separate drawing room they made the trip about as costly as it could be made without hiring a special train this only goes to show the general altitude of people in and out of congress toward public money the idea seems to be that whatever is in the U S treasury belongs to anybody who can call get it and any wa v y is fair that works public conscience is seemingly forgotten when it comes to grabbing off public money and that goes for county and state officials as well as the lusher ups in governmental affairs no one knows what causes such an attitude no one knows the cure so the only hill hing left to to taxpayer is to pra 7 that the grabber who does happen to set into office wont prove rny worse than the one lie he succeeded |
