Show ROOSEVELT AND GAME CLUB accomplishes MUCH PASI T the roosevelt fish and game club has a long record of successful years to its credit since its organization waa perfected it was founded tor for the purpose of protecting the wild life of 0 this gibat inland country at the same time giving the sportsmen of the state and uintah bisin basin a good fishing and hunting ground during the present year the club has successfully staged a may day riot pat ot the big park in the beautiful uintah canyon at this riot the club was host ho st to many distinguished visitors from our state capitol as well as hun deeds of sportsmen from all towns in the uintah basin the roosevelt club boasts of lia having ing a good number of lady members and these members were all active in helping put over the big riot those who attended the riot from outside the tha Uil uintah basin were newell B cook fish and game ga me commissioner dr J E Bio broaddus I 1 addus william whitney Vh itney superintendent erin of tho the state fish hatchery mr air winkler of the forest department located locate d at ogden lawrence N despain captain of the observation airplane squadron located at salt lake and nine men under his command piloted tour four big ships into the basin and landed at the myton field the day of the riot they were escorted to the scene of the riot in cars by club members A big dance and picture show were the activities proceeding the big riot day the club has been active in the planting of fish on may alay day the successful planting of tour four truckloads truck loads of rainbow trout rang inz in Z in size from 3 to 7 inches were placed in uintah river about sixty thousand in number one tiu chload of small mall size fish were planted in the big spring creek and were held there as a holding pond until late its tall fall by means mains of a fish screen being placed across the creek by the club in the tha early spring fall planting of fish in uintah numbered another sixty thousand membership large lar e tho the clubs mentorship menTer membership ship this year has exceeded filly pi previous evious pic year and the club has tie no outstanding bills has money left in the ury to start activities out in good shape for the new year the rhe club through its active road committee has been very successful during the year they were able to get et a small email appropriation from the indian department likewise the forest derailment dep ailment the roosevelt commercial club donated commissioner cook N A Z A M commissioner cook re poris that fish have been planted in duchesne and uintah counties during durina the present year practically all 0 of these fish were rainbow trout however a few native trout were also planted also practically the entire number were planted from the whiterocks hatchery and the club itself has spent about on road work all of this has been done on the uintah canyon load club officers the club officers for 1931 are goorge george e il II harrison president paul allen alien ic ac al F wilkins secretary and treasurer dee meldrum david nicholson herbert barlow and george walkup when paul allen alien resigned due to moving away walter E atwood was selected to fill ill the vacancy committee Alm ointments Al members embers who were chosen to work on committees are as follows fish mark wilkins chairman ted harmston armston II and paul allen alien ganie game jack mclea chairman dee meldrum and grant killian Kil llan organization and finance M wilkins chairman earl free ruan man and paul wilkins roads coads and camp grounds divid david nicholson chairman C L aslton ashton it S jordan geo walkup and leonard gardner publicity and entertainment herbeat Her ITer beit barlow chairman dave hillah axel birch leo hansen and bus ruppel the clubs motto organized or by sportsmen ports nien for sports sportsmen irien be a sportsman protect the fish arid and game let the riot habit be annually we are strongly in favor of having an annual sportsmens sports mens riot as it has a tendency to awaken a new spirit after the long covering of snow during the ilia winter but lets profit by last years experience and give the wInter winters 3 chill cbill a dance chance to fade out of the scene we believe that the 1st ast lay day of june would lie be plenty early this would give mother nature sa a chance to put the finishing touches on the beautiful uintah canyon the board members of the club take dalre this opportunity to thank its many members and friends for their loyal support during darlng 1931 arid and hope that the new year will go ofer oer just one notch better |
