Show BOY SCOUTS anniversary brally DRAWS BIG CROWD about two hundred boy scouts and their fathers attended the rally held in roosevelt last thursday in celebration ot of the fifteenth anniversary of the organization of the boy scouts of america A varied and interesting program was presented by scouts from froim the different troops in and around roosevelt the event was under the auspices of the roosevelt stake al I 1 A but was also participated in by troops not affiliated with that organization the program commenced with community singing led by W M vernon and the oi odenna eang prayer was offered by scoutmaster K R houtz of Ced cedarview arview scout irwin todd of cedarview Ced arview rendered a plano piano solo which was well received A chorus of roosevelt boys sang daddy which was fittingly responded to by john E with sonny 0 mine A flag drill and demonstration of signaling was given by members ot of roosevelt troop three members of myton troop gave some pleasing instrumental selections members of 0 the newly organized troop at fort duchesne Duc besne gave the scout oath the first aid contest was very interesting though only two troops entered these were iram roosevelt and neola the neola boys were seriously handicapped through last minute changes in their team but they did splendid work and showed admirable spirit judging in this contest was done by dr D P whitmore of roosevelt and the decision was awarded the roosevelt team on a a lew few point the prize offe redby the ct city ty drug company of roosevelt a first alad kit had not arrived but will be presented later prizes in the bird house contest offered by leslie ashton and sons were awarded to aaron wardle roosevelt james barnes bebla and bernard larsen roosevelt winners in the essay on thrift for which the roosevelt state bank offered two prizes were hugh B F barnes neola first and lloyd bralo crar 0 roosevelt second short interesting talks were delivered by ray E Dill dellman mau former scout deputy commissi oner and by president B 0 colton both speakers urged fathers to study the scout movement and give the boys the full advantages of this big organization games and refreshments tilled filled in the latter part of the program |
