Show Kiwanis Progress Reviewed By Vernal Member Max Cluff, past president of the Vernal Kiwanis club, addressed ad-dressed the Roosevelt unit last night at the Frontier Grill on the founding of Kiwanis International Inter-national 36 years ago in Detroit, and traced the growth of the service organization since that time. "Kiwanis was started first as a trade organization, but soon gave way to the prime objective of service the one principle that has seen it grow until today to-day it has over 200,000 members , in 3200 clubs in the United States, Canada, Hawaii and Alaska," Mr. Cluff told the Roosevelt group. He touched briefly on the objects of Kiwanis Ki-wanis that have never been changed since 1924. During the meeting Kiwan-ians Kiwan-ians donated a necktie, which, in turn, was auctioned off to another member. The proceeds from this auction, $52 75, was donated to the March of Dimes campaign fund in Roosevelt. Bob Sather was the auctioneer, and ties sold for as much as $4.75 each. The meeting was presided over ov-er by Cliff Memmott, club secretary, sec-retary, and chairman of the education ed-ucation committee. Another guest of the club was Lee Walker, Walk-er, president of the Vernal club. |
