Show Saturday Blaze Burns Sheds At Riding Farm i A fire of unknown origin that started in a chicken coop burned part of the farm buildings on the Fred Riding farm three miles south of Roosevelt last Saturday afternoon. The blaze was discovered discov-ered by Fred Riding Jr. about 4 p.m. as he was leaving the house to go to the yard. The milking barn and corrals were saved, but most of the 'other out-buildings were destroyed, together to-gether with some valuable farm machinery. Approximately 50 laying lay-ing hens were trapped in the coop. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $1000. The flames, fanned by a stiff wind, could be seen for miles. They attracted about 50 men who came and fought the blaze with spraying equipment and buckets of water from the irrigation canal. There was no fire insurance on the buildings or their contents. This area is not served by thi Roosevelt city Fire Department. |
