Show Our Boys In The Servks LT. BRYANT M. GILBERT Word was rectived by Mrs. Rose D. Gilbert, of Arcadia, that her son, 2nd Lt. Bryant M. Gilbert, has been advanced to a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army. Lt. Gilbert has been serving in the 473rd Q.M. Sub. Sup. Co. in Korea the past nine months. ARVIN G. LABRUM BOSTON, Mass. (FHTNC) Aboard the radar picket destroyer destroy-er USS Kenneth D. Bailey, which was recommissioned at the U.S. Naval Shipyard here, Aug. 29th is Arvin G. Labrum, gunner's mate, Seaman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morrell Labrum, of Roosevelt, Utah. After her fitting out and readiness read-iness for sea trials, the Bailey I will rejoin the Atlantic Fleet at Newport, R. I. as the flagship flag-ship of the Commander of Destroyer De-stroyer Division 82. The ship is named in honor of Marine Maj. Kenneth D. Bailey, who was killed during the Japanese Jap-anese attack on Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. For his extraordinary extra-ordinary courage and heroic conduct during the engagement, Major Bailey was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal Med-al of Honor. |
