Winners of the Shoe Dance were Cloyd Kump, of Alterra, the boy with the biggest feet, and Isabell Wall, of Roosevelt, the girl with the smallest feet. On her first trip to the Uintah Basin is Mrs. Catherine Watkins, of Logan, who is a guest at the horne of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip E. Pack. 10 Years Ago George Boyd, of Myton, narrowly nar-rowly escaped serious injury when his truck was destroyed by fire Saturday evening. The vehicle overturned on the flood-damaged flood-damaged Indian canyon road between be-tween Duchesne and Price. C. I. Johnson returned this week from Los Angeles, California, Cali-fornia, where he had spent th past three months visiting with Mrs. Johnson and his movie star daughter Laraine Day. Members of Altonah Post No. 53 American Legion and Aux iliary, met Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Fowler. Plans were made for a dance to raise funds for the Altonah school lunch project, and Clarence Jones was appointed ap-pointed chairman of the dance committee. Clyde Lambert and Jesse Fowler were appointed as a committee to locate a new meeting place. Miss Naomi Dillman will entertain en-tertain a group of her school mates from the B.Y.U. at the Dillman home in Uintah canyon this week end. The Eirls, who arrived here this week, are Miss Kathryn Kirkhan., Salt Lake City, Miss Jeanne Porteous and Miss Marjory Jackman, of New Zealand. 20 Years Ago Roosevelt and Vernal golf clubs - played first tournament games with a two-day session last Sunday and Monday. Sunday Sun-day the Roosevelt club motored to Vernal and played 18 holes, which terminated with a score of 12-17 in favor of the Roosevelt Roose-velt team. Monday the game was played on the Roosevelt course and ended in a very lopsided score in favor of the Roosevelt team, 23-6. Fred C. Ferron and Walter E: Atwood attended a big meeting meet-ing held last week in Heber City. Pupose of the meeting was to figure out just what can be done to have the present government govern-ment start mail route system into in-to the Basin routed from Salt Lake through Heber City over U. S. 40, known as the Victory highway, and in doing so to concentrate, con-centrate, all road work on one road. ' Mr. and Mrs. George Stewart and baby daughter, Mary Ellen, left Thursday for Washington. D C, after a two months' visit with Mrs. Stewart's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Gagon. |
