Show oiih s Highiva y 40 Group Protests Ito Kimball Junction Take-Off " A delegation acting under the sponsorship of the Highway 40 Association of Utah and Colorado Colo-rado and representing the communities com-munities of Vernal, Roosevelt, Duchesne and Heber City, yesterday yes-terday protested the new approach ap-proach to' U. S. 40 built three miles east of Kimball's Junction. Junc-tion. Several car-loads of men from these communities met members of the Utah State Road Commission, Wednesday morning at the new junction The delegation held that the new roadway, which by-passes Park City, is not prominent enough near the approach, and as a - result, tourists and other travelers are passing it by and continuing on into Wyoming along U. S. Highway 30. The association said that travelers trav-elers on .the four-lane highway approaching the new cut-off "can hardly see what appears to be a country lane" when they come to the Highway 40 cut-off. Meeting the Highway 40 group at the junction were the three members of the State Road Commission, David Whit-enberg, Whit-enberg, chairman, Layton Max-field Max-field and Lorenzo Bott. After hearing the protests, Mr. Whit-enberg Whit-enberg assured the delegation they would have their engineers make a careful study of the project, pro-ject, and that changes would be made according to their findings. find-ings. H. Stringham,- Reps. Clair Hopkins, Uintah, and William Brotherson, Duchesne. Annual Meeting Held The annual meeting of the U. S. 40 group was held last Thursday Thurs-day at Craig, Colo., where Clarence Clar-ence Reiff, of Kremling, Colo, (the little town of 800 where $1720 was donated to promote Highway 40). was elected president, pres-ident, and Mr. Lyman the vice-president vice-president for Utah. Attending the meeting, in addition to Mr. Lyman, were Gordon Harmston, Pat Roberts and Evans Phillips of Roosevelt.
